AHA YOUTH
ACTIVITIES
Through the Arabian Horse Association,
EVAHA Youth Association has many opportunities for its members.
AHA Youth Judging Contest
One of the longest-running horse judging
competitions anywhere, since 1970 the Arabian Horse Judging Contest has
been held with the famous US National Championship show! Each year 4-H,
FFA, AHA and Collegiate teams compete for over $10,000 in scholarships
and prizes! This national-level contest features ten Arabian horse
classes and requires oral reasons.
Regional Youth Team Tournament
The Regional Youth Team Tournament offers
youth from each region the opportunity to form teams which work together
to earn points. These points, earned from both recognized and
non-recognized shows and rides, lead to great year-end awards for the
high scoring team in each region. In addition to these awards, regional
winners are posted here, on the AHA youth webpage, and in the Generation
Equus section of Arabian Horse Magazine.
AHA Creative Contests
If you are a youth member of AHA up to the
age of 21 you can enter our annual creative contest! Enter as many
categories as you like for just $10.00! Photography, Creative Writing,
Computer, Art, or Audio Visual-we want to see your talent! There will be
a champion and reserve champion in each category for each age group: 13
and under, 14-17 and 18-21. The Champion of each category wins $50.00
cash and a large Breyer Model Horse! The Reserve Champion in each
category wins a smaller model Breyer Horse.
Champions will also each have their winning
entry featured right here on the AHA website, and also in a future issue
of Generation Equus in Arabian Horse Magazine. Entries are due June 1st
so hurry and enter today! This year's Creative Contest theme is
"Treasure of the Desert." Entries are judged on creativity, use of
theme, orginality, and overall talent.
Youth Nationals Journalism Contest
AHA wants YOU to cover 2006 Youth Nationals
Activities! Enter the contest by submitting a writing sample (details
below). If you win, you'll be one of several kids to become journalists
for Youth Nationals. Your work will be featured right here on the AHYA
website.
Winning youth journalists will work with an
AHA staff member to write accounts of activities, get interviews, and
take fun photos! If you're interested, make sure you'll be in
Albuquerque, New Mexico for at least a few days of the 2007 Youth
Nationals (July 22-28). Winners must be able to write their own stories
and attend activities.
AHA Horse of the Month
Do you have an outstanding Arabian or
Half-Arabian horse that you feel deserves extra special recognition? If
so, enter him or her in the AHA "Horse of the Month" Contest!
